Dr. Şemsi Kazım Erkman, pioneering Turkish Cypriot physician and former MP, dies at 97
Dr. Şemsi Kazım Erkman, one of the first Turkish Cypriot doctors, died at the age of 97. He held numerous public roles, including positions in the Education Ministry, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Cypriot Assembly, and a term as a Member of Parliament for Lefkoşa representing the National Unity Party. He also served in the provisional Turkish administration and the Community Assembly.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, 10 August, at the Republic Assembly. After the noon prayer at İsmail Safa Mosque, his body will be buried in the Lefkoşa Cemetery.
