Dr. Fritz Gorzny releases new book on binocular vision disorders

Ophthalmologist Dr. med. Fritz Gorzny has released a new non-fiction book titled ‘Winkelfehlsichtigkeit: Eine Störung des beidäugigen Sehens mit weitreichenden Folgen’ (Heterophoria: A Disorder of Binocular Vision with Far-Reaching Consequences). Published by the Deutsche Literaturgesellschaft, the work examines heterophoria, a binocular vision disorder that can significantly impact daily life, school, work, and overall quality of life.

Symptoms associated with the condition include headaches, strained reading, concentration difficulties, rapid fatigue during screen work, and challenges with fine motor tasks or writing. The book draws on Gorzny’s five decades of professional experience to explain the origins of the disorder, its consequences, and potential correction methods using principles from optometry, ophthalmology, physics, and sensory physiology.

Targeted at both patients and professionals—including ophthalmologists and optometrists—the book also addresses the ongoing professional and political controversy surrounding the measurement and correction methodology developed by Hans-Joachim Haase (MKH).
