Dr. Jonah Ogbaji arrested by police in Benue State

Dr. Jonah Ogbaji, the Medical Director of Multicare Hospital in Makurdi, Benue State, has been taken into police custody following reports of his alleged abduction. While social media reports suggested the doctor was kidnapped while attending to patients on Wednesday night, the Benue State Police Command clarified that he was arrested rather than abducted.

According to DSP Peter Aondongu, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Benue State Command, Ogbaji was arrested at his hospital by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) attached to the Force Intelligence Department (FID) from Abuja. The arrest is reportedly in connection with an ongoing investigation, though the specific details of the case have not been disclosed to the state command.

The doctor's family had reportedly searched several police stations in Makurdi before receiving information that he was in the custody of officers from Abuja.
