Dr. José Bello Clinic construction begins in Nagua

Construction has begun on the Dr. José Bello Clinic in Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez province, with an estimated investment of RD$2,000 million. The third-level hospital facility will span approximately 16,700 square meters and is designed to provide specialized medical services to the Northeast region of the Dominican Republic.

The clinic will feature 80 hospitalization beds, 16 intensive care beds, and 26 emergency positions. Specialized services will include magnetic resonance imaging, tomography, cardiovascular care, maternity, pediatrics, hemodialysis, and cancer treatments such as oncology, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine.

Project promoter Abel Bello stated that the initiative aims to reduce the need for local patients to travel to Santo Domingo or Santiago for complex diagnoses and treatments. The facility is named in honor of Dr. José Avenhamet Bello Guzmán, Nagua’s first pediatrician. Beyond healthcare, the project is expected to stimulate the local economy by creating jobs for medical, technical, and administrative staff.
