Dr. José Mir Pallardó nominated for Mislata honors

The VOX municipal group in Mislata has submitted a new motion to name Dr. José Mir Pallardó as a ‘Hijo Predilecto’ (Favorite Son) of the city and to award him the City Gold Medal.

Dr. Mir Pallardó, a prominent figure in Spanish surgery and liver transplantation, performed the first liver transplant in the Valencian Community in 1991. His work at Hospital Universitario La Fe helped establish the institution as a national and international reference center for pediatric and living donor transplants.

While the Mislata City Council previously recognized his scientific work in 2016, VOX notes that a formal process to grant him the highest municipal honors began over nine years ago but has yet to be finalized. This follows a similar motion presented by the group in February 2023.
