Dr. Mladen Stojanović Hospital in Prijedor to undergo 195 million KM reconstruction

The reconstruction of the ‘Dr. Mladen Stojanović’ Hospital in Prijedor is moving toward the implementation phase. The project, valued at approximately 195 million KM, aims to modernize the facility, which serves over 120,000 residents. Officials stated that bids for selecting a contractor are expected to be opened on October 12, following a tender deadline of October 5.

To ensure continuous medical services during construction, a 12-month annex expansion is planned before the main 40-month reconstruction begins. Acting Director Miroslav Bijelić noted that work could commence within 15 to 30 days after a contractor is selected.

However, the project has faced criticism regarding delays. Local staff and patients have reported difficult working conditions, citing issues such as leaking roofs, inadequate windows, and a lack of essential equipment like CT scanners. While authorities have promised modernization for several years, some stakeholders view the project as a recurring political promise that has yet to yield significant results.
