Dr. Nenad Ilić joins preventive health screening team in Serbia
The Ministry of Health, the Institute "Niška Banja" and the University Clinical Center of Niš continue their outreach preventive health examinations in remote villages of southeast Serbia. Vascular surgeon Dr. Nenad Ilić, a long‑time specialist at the Center’s cardiovascular surgery clinic, has been added to the mobile teams that travel to settlements such as Oreovac. The teams will perform basic vascular checks, clinical examinations, extremity inspections, pulse measurements and portable Doppler ultrasounds to detect early‑stage artery and vein disease and refer serious cases to the university hospital.
Director of the University Clinical Center, Prof. Dr. Milan Lazarević, emphasized that early diagnosis can avert severe complications, especially for elderly patients with varicose veins and ulcer‑prone wounds. Anesthesiology specialist Dr. Aleksandar Nikolić called on medical students and young physicians from the University of Niš Faculty of Medicine to join the effort, offering hands‑on training under faculty mentorship. The initiative aims to bring essential health services to underserved populations while fostering practical experience for future doctors.
