Niall Kent's Ozen toothpaste offers instant relief for sensitive teeth

British maxillofacial surgeon Dr Niall Kent has launched Ozen, a toothpaste and oral gel that claim to stop tooth sensitivity instantly. The product uses aerogel, a lightweight solid, to seal exposed channels in the tooth and release calcium and phosphate ions that form a protective mineral layer.

Ozen is the first new sensitive‑toothpaste patent in nearly 30 years and is sold at Boots in two forms: a daily‑use toothpaste priced at £10 per tube and a gel for £15 that can be applied directly before consuming hot or cold foods. The invention follows a decade of research involving a development team at University College London. Anni Seaborne, team dentist for England Rugby, highlighted the unmet need for effective treatments, noting that existing products only mask the problem.

Millions of people in the UK suffer from tooth sensitivity, which can cause significant discomfort and even emergency department visits. Kent says the new technology offers a direct solution rather than temporary relief.
