Dr. Oreste Buonomo receives Heraclea Prize in Basilicata

Dr. Oreste Buonomo, a nationally renowned senologist and expert in oncological surgery, has been awarded the Heraclea Prize in Policoro. The award was presented by Basilicata Regional Health Councilor Cosimo Latronico and Regional Councilor Rocco Leone.

During the ceremony, Latronico emphasized the importance of attracting highly skilled professionals from the Basilicata region back to their home territory to strengthen the local healthcare system. As part of this initiative, Dr. Buonomo has agreed to teach within the new Medicine and Surgery degree program at the University of Basilicata (Unibas), contributing to the training of future medical professionals.

Latronico also highlighted regional efforts to improve local medical services, including the recent deployment of three young local doctors to strengthen the network of medical guards and ensure continuity of care.
