Dr Patrick Hart suspended for 10 months following climate protest convictions

Dr Patrick Hart, a general practitioner who was jailed for his involvement in climate protests, has received an additional 10-month suspension from medical practice. The decision follows a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service review hearing held on August 28, which found that Hart’s fitness to practise was impaired.

The suspension stems from Hart’s convictions related to Just Stop Oil demonstrations in Essex. In August 2022, Hart participated in a protest at the Esso Service Station at Thurrock Motorway Services, where fuel pumps were damaged with a hammer and orange spray paint. He was convicted at Chelmsford Crown Court of causing approximately £11,000 in criminal damage and received a 12-month prison sentence in January 2025.

The tribunal described his conduct as premeditated, stating it created an unwarranted risk to the public and emergency services. This latest ruling follows a previous 10-month suspension issued in October 2025. Hart had also been convicted of aggravated trespass following a separate protest at the Exolum terminal in Grays in April 2022.
