Dr. Richard Group to double electric coach fleet in Austria
Since February, the Dr. Richard Group has been running a pilot with three Yutong T12E electric coaches, each capable of 450 km on a charge and seating 50 passengers. The buses have been used for shuttle services and longer day trips between Vienna and Salzburg. Positive operational results and strong customer demand prompted the company to plan a fleet expansion. By early next year the fleet will increase from three to six electric coaches. The Austrian family‑owned operator, the country's second‑largest bus company after Postbus with about 1,900 employees, intends to invest roughly €150 million in the electric fleet, charging infrastructure and workshop modernization. The expansion will rely on its own renewable energy generation, including photovoltaic installations, and dedicated charging stations, initially focusing on the Vienna and Salzburg routes.
