Dr. Richard Konteh criticizes APC leadership and Tripartite Committee process

Dr. Richard Konteh, an All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant and member of the Tripartite Committee, has raised concerns regarding both internal party governance and the integrity of recent political recommendations in Sierra Leone.

Addressing the APC’s internal challenges, Konteh attributed the party’s current crisis to a failure to respect its own constitution. He criticized the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) for not intervening earlier to ensure constitutional compliance, arguing that this inaction undermined the party’s ability to challenge the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) on matters of the rule of law.

Regarding the Tripartite Committee, which was established to review electoral and governance issues following the 2023 elections, Konteh explained his refusal to sign the committee’s final recommendations. He alleged that the report was finalized without the full participation of all APC members, claiming the lead negotiator concluded the document after meeting with diplomats before the committee had completed its agreed-upon line-by-line review.
