Dr. Shafiqur Rahman vows continued political movement in Bangladesh

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has declared that large-scale political movements will be called whenever necessary to address public grievances, stating that such actions are not tied to specific religious holidays. Speaking at the conclusion of an 11-party alliance long march in Chittagong, Rahman criticized the current administration for failing to honor the public mandate and failing to provide relief from severe gas and electricity shortages.

During the rally at Laldighi Maidan, Rahman also addressed issues of corruption and identity deception, citing a recent gold robbery at Dhaka airport where perpetrators allegedly misrepresented their political affiliations. He accused the government of mismanagement, high commodity prices, and allowing extortion to rise.

Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizens' Party, urged the government to acknowledge its inability to solve current national problems and called for immediate dialogue with opposition parties. The assembly also included demands for justice regarding past disappearances, killings, and the casualties of the 2024 mass uprising.
