Dr. Steve Manteaw wins EITI Global Chair’s Award for resource governance

Dr. Steve Manteaw, a Ghanaian policy analyst and extractive-governance expert, has been awarded the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Global Chair’s Award. He is the first Ghanaian to receive this individual honor.

Presented on October 8, 2026, at the EITI Global Conference in Brussels, Belgium, the award recognizes Manteaw’s contributions to transparency and accountability in natural resource management. His career spans over two decades, focusing on Ghana’s mining, petroleum, and public-finance governance systems.

Manteaw is notably recognized for his two terms as Chair of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), which oversees public oversight of petroleum revenues in Ghana. He currently co-chairs the Multi-Stakeholder Group of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI).
