Dr. Tirta Mandira Hudhi: Drinking Water Alone Won’t Prevent Dry Skin

Doctor and health influencer Dr. Tirta Mandira Hudhi explained in a YouTube video that skin moisture is not guaranteed by drinking large amounts of water. She emphasized that the external environment—especially humidity, temperature and wind—plays a decisive role. When ambient humidity is high (above 80 %), the air contains abundant moisture, reducing skin dryness, whereas low humidity (below 50 %) accelerates water loss from the skin even if a person stays well‑hydrated. Dr. Tirta also noted that the body needs a balanced intake of fluids, including electrolytes, to maintain overall hydration. She warned that dehydration can still cause severe skin dryness and offered simple signs, such as nail‑bed testing, to recognize it.
