Drâa-Tafilalet parliamentary representation reshaped by 2026 elections

The legislative elections held on September 23, 2026, have significantly reshaped the parliamentary representation for the Drâa-Tafilalet region in Morocco. The results indicate a turnover of several prominent political figures from the previous term.

In the Errachidia district, several incumbents lost their seats, including Moulay El Hassan Benlefki (Istiqlal Party) and Amrou Oujil (who ran under the Party of Progress and Socialism). In Midelt, Rachid Adnan of the Istiqlal Party failed to retain his seat. Zagora saw the departure of Mimoun Amiri, while Youssef Cherri of the National Rally of Independents lost his position in Ouarzazate.

Conversely, the elections introduced several new faces and young representatives across the region's districts. In Errachidia, Mohamed Taiki (Justice and Development Party), Abdelbar Belhassan (Popular Movement), and Mohamed Karoui (National Rally of Independents) secured seats, alongside Mustapha El Amri (Authenticity and Modernity Party) and Ismail El Alaoui (Socialist Union of Popular Forces). In Tinghir, Mohamed Qacha (Party of Progress and Socialism) and Hicham Majoud (National Rally of Independents) were elected, joining Lahcen Idai (Istiqlal Party). In Zagora, Youssef Amzou (Authenticity and Modernity Party), Abdelrahim Shahid (Socialist Union of Popular Forces), and El Houcine Ouallal (National Rally of Independents) were successful.
