DraftKings files nine football contract categories with CFTC
DraftKings is expanding its prediction market offerings through its Railbird Exchange, operating as DKeX, ahead of the upcoming football season. The company filed nine new football contract categories with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on August 10.
These new categories cover a wide range of markets for both the NFL and college football, including game winners, point spreads, totals, player props, and season awards. The contracts also include markets for player and team statistics, in-game achievements, and head-to-head comparisons. The filings are scheduled to become certified on August 12, allowing them to be listed for trading.
This expansion aims to transition traditional sports betting logic into an exchange-style trading model, where users trade contracts on event outcomes rather than betting against a house. CEO Jason Robins indicated that the upcoming football season is expected to bring millions of new customers to the exchange.
