DraftKings launches proprietary DKeX prediction market exchange
DraftKings introduced DKeX, a proprietary prediction‑market exchange, on June 26 and integrated it directly into its Sports & Casino app. The platform replaces the company's prior reliance on third‑party operators such as CME Group and Crypto.com, enabling all prediction‑market contracts—covering sports outcomes, financial events and entertainment results—to run on DraftKings‑owned rails. The launch follows DraftKings’ acquisition of Railbird Technologies, which provided a CFTC licence allowing the firm to operate a regulated exchange.
The company reported an annualized consumer trading volume of about $3.4 billion and total weekly trading volume of $11.3 billion for the week ending June 21. Shares jumped roughly 11% to $25.70 after the announcement, and analysts see the move as a signal of consolidation in the emerging prediction‑markets sector, potentially expanding margins and giving DraftKings a competitive edge over rivals such as Polymarket and Kalshi.
