Dragan Babić and Milivoje Maletić sentenced for war crimes in Teslić

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sentenced Dragan Babić to 12 years in prison and Milivoje Maletić to six years for war crimes committed against detainees in 1992 at the Pribinić detention facility near Teslić.

Babić, a former member of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) and manager of the facility, was found guilty of inhumane treatment and physical abuse of non-Serb detainees. The court established that prisoners were kept in substandard conditions, often naked on concrete with insufficient food and water. The presiding judge, Enida Hadžiomerović, noted that detainees were subjected to psychological abuse and physical violence, including being forced to perform specific rituals when Babić entered the facility.

Both Babić and Maletić, who served as a guard, were found guilty of jointly entering the facility to physically and psychologically abuse prisoners. The court determined that these actions contributed to the deaths of several civilians, whose remains have never been found. Additionally, Babić was found to have abused prisoners in his later capacity as a military policeman and committed robbery against one individual.
