Dragan Maksimović: Remembering the life and tragic death of the Serbian actor

The legacy of Serbian actor Dragan Maksimović is being remembered following the anniversary of his death. Maksimović, a prolific performer with over 60 roles in theater, film, and television, passed away on February 4, 2001.

His death followed a violent assault on November 18, 2000, in front of a restaurant in Belgrade's Zeleni Venac area. The attack, believed to have been carried out by hooligans, left the actor with severe injuries, including fractures to his hip and femur. Despite the severity of the incident and the presence of witnesses, the perpetrators were never identified or held accountable. Maksimović spent three months in the hospital before succumbing to an embolism.
