Dragan Stankovic named new captain of Yuasa Battery

Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina has appointed Serbian middle blocker Dragan Stankovic as the team's new captain. The decision was made by coach Massimiliano Ortenzi to leverage Stankovic's extensive experience for the upcoming season.

Stankovic, 40, has had a distinguished career spanning over two decades, beginning in 2001. During his seventeen seasons in the Italian Superlega, he recorded over 500 matches, 3,000 points, 2,000 winning attacks, and 700 block points. His professional honors include four Italian championships, a Champions League title, a Challenge Cup, and a CEV Cup. Internationally, he won a European gold medal with the Serbian national team.

Having played for Grottazzolina last season, Stankovic has chosen to remain with the club to support its rebuilding project in Serie A2, a level he has not previously competed in during his career.
