Dragon Ball franchise guide: series, movies, and canon

The Dragon Ball franchise, based on the manga by Akira Toriyama, has significantly influenced the shonen action genre for four decades. Key elements such as power-up transformations and archetypal rivalries, like that between Goku and Vegeta, have become industry standards.

The franchise is extensive, consisting of over 800 episodes across five anime series and more than 20 movies. Navigating the series involves understanding the distinction between canon and non-canon content. While many films exist outside the official continuity, the four most recent movies are considered part of the official Dragon Ball universe. Additionally, the series Dragon Ball Daima is noted as a fully canon production.
