Dragon Ball Super anime adaptations face continuity questions

New developments in the Dragon Ball franchise are raising questions regarding character power progressions and timeline consistency. The upcoming anime, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, which adapts the Moro arc, will not feature Gohan’s Beast transformation. This is due to the story's placement in the timeline, occurring after the Tournament of Power but before the events of the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, where the transformation was first introduced.

Similarly, the reimagined series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus does not reference Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 form. While Dragon Ball Daima depicts Goku unlocking this transformation, the Beerus adaptation follows the original progression where Goku moves from Super Saiyan 3 directly toward achieving the Super Saiyan God state to face Beerus. These discrepancies highlight the complexities of maintaining a cohesive continuity across various anime series, films, and manga adaptations within the franchise.
