Dragon Ball Super: Beerus premieres with enhanced animation and manga-accurate scenes
The new anime series ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ premiered on October 11, 2026, offering an enhanced version of the ‘Battle of Gods’ saga. Produced by Toei Animation, this edition is described as an improved adaptation rather than a simple remaster, featuring redesigned sequences, new visual elements, and a reconstructed narrative to more closely align with Akira Toriyama’s original manga. Notably, the series incorporates scenes previously exclusive to the manga, such as Goku’s mental training against Cell, Frieza, and Majin Buu.
Global streaming availability varies by region. Crunchyroll began broadcasting the series on its release date for Latin America, Europe, and parts of the US and Canada, requiring a premium membership for simulcast access. In the United States, Hulu also launched the series on October 11. Netflix is scheduled to begin its rollout on October 17, while HBO Max is expected to debut episodes on October 16.
While the animation has been significantly updated, voice actor Koichi Yamadera confirmed that the production reused existing dialogue recordings for the character Beerus. The series consists of 19 episodes and aims to bridge the gap for fans awaiting the return of the official manga, which has been on hiatus since the passing of Akira Toriyama in March 2024.
