Dragon Quest franchise surpasses 100 million copies sold
The Dragon Quest video game franchise has surpassed 100 million cumulative copies sold across physical and digital formats. This milestone includes the main series titles and various spin-offs.
Series creator Yuji Horii expressed his gratitude to fans and staff on social media, noting that he never imagined reaching such a scale when the first game was released in 1986. The franchise is recognized as a pioneer of the Japanese Role-Playing Game (JRPG) genre.
The achievement follows recent successes with HD-2D remakes of several titles. Looking forward, the series continues to expand with upcoming projects, including a reimagined version of Dragon Quest VII.
