Dragon Quest series surpasses 100 million units sold

The Dragon Quest video game series has surpassed 100 million units sold worldwide. This milestone coincides with the franchise's 40th anniversary.

Square Enix announced the achievement alongside a special video featuring series creator Yuji Horii. Since its debut in Japan in 1986, the franchise has grown to include 11 main titles, numerous spin-offs, and various media adaptations including anime, manga, and film.

The series continues to expand through new projects and remakes, such as the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, which utilizes modern technology to update classic gameplay experiences.
