Dragutin Dimitrijević Apis and the legacy of Ustaše crimes in Serbian history

Dragutin Dimitrijević, known as Apis, was a Serbian army officer who co‑founded the secret society "Ujedinjenje ili smrt" (Black Hand) in 1911. He participated in the 1903 assassination of King Aleksandar Obrenović, later headed the Serbian General Staff's intelligence department in 1913, and exerted considerable influence over military and political affairs during the First World War.
