Drain maintenance and odor prevention in plumbing systems

Plumbing obstructions and odors in residential and commercial settings can be addressed through professional services and simple maintenance habits. Clogged pipes often manifest through slow drainage, unusual noises, or the return of waste, which can lead to structural damage if not handled with specialized equipment.

In cases where drains emit unpleasant sewage odors despite a clean environment, the cause is often the evaporation of the water seal in the siphon or trap. This phenomenon, known as the rupture of the water seal, allows sewer gases like hydrogen sulfide to enter the building. To prevent this, especially in infrequently used areas, pouring approximately 500 ml of clean water into the drain can restore the seal. Regular weekly maintenance or using sealing covers can also mitigate these issues and prevent the entry of pests through the drainage network.
