Drake faces lawsuit over alleged theft of ‘Janice STFU’ hook
Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Aviel Calev Hirschfield has filed a lawsuit against Drake, OVO Sound, UMG Recordings, and Universal Music Publishing, alleging the unauthorized use of his work in the hit single ‘Janice STFU’.
Hirschfield claims the song’s chorus is ‘literally identical’ in lyrics, melody, and cadence to a demo he composed between December 2025 and January 2026. According to the legal complaint, Hirschfield sent the demo to producers within Drake’s circle, including the duo FNZ, but received no response. He alleges the hook was written specifically with Drake in mind.
Drake’s representatives have categorically denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit a ‘manufactured and baseless attempt’ to exploit the rapper’s career. His team maintains that Drake wrote the song and has no connection to or knowledge of Hirschfield regarding this specific track.
