Drake Maye leads New England Patriots offensive resurgence
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has led a significant offensive resurgence, transforming the team's performance following a slow 1-2 start to the 2026 season. Under offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, the Patriots' scoring average rose from 12.0 points per game in the first three weeks to 37.0 points per game over the subsequent two contests.
Maye's individual statistics have seen a sharp increase, with his passing yards per game jumping from 195.0 to 321.5. In his most recent outings, he recorded eight passing touchdowns against only two turnovers. Despite a Week 5 performance where Maye accounted for nearly 400 yards of total offense and five total scores (four passing, one rushing), he was not awarded the AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor. That award went to Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren, who recorded nearly 200 total yards and two touchdowns.
