Drake Maye denies tension with Mike Vrabel amid injury concerns

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has dismissed rumors of tension between himself and head coach Mike Vrabel following the team’s 1-2 start to the season. Despite speculation regarding a rift, Maye praised Vrabel, stating, “Coach Vrabel’s been one of the best football coaches I’ve had in my life,” and noted that his respect for the coach remains unchanged.

Vrabel also rejected claims of friction, noting that Maye was a primary reason he accepted the coaching position. Amidst the team's recent struggles, the Patriots are also managing Maye’s health; he was recently listed on the injury report with a right shoulder injury. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels indicated the injury likely occurred during a game against Jacksonville but noted it has not affected offensive play-calling or Maye’s ability to throw.

As the Patriots prepare for an upcoming matchup against the Buffalo Bills, head coach Vrabel indicated that Ben Brown is anticipated to start at right guard to provide more stability and protection for Maye.
