Drava and Danube rivers hit record low water levels in Croatia

The Drava and Danube rivers in eastern Croatia are experiencing extremely low water levels. The Drava River near Osijek has reached a historic low, recording a level of -199 centimeters. This surpasses the previous minimum of -194 centimeters recorded in August.

At the Batina measuring station, the Danube River recorded a water level of -134 centimeters. While this is 21 centimeters higher than the level of -155 centimeters recorded on September 10, it remains an exceptionally low level for the river.

The hydrological conditions of the two rivers are interconnected, particularly on the lower reaches of the Drava, where the Danube's level can influence the Drava's status. Future water levels will depend on rainfall and hydrological conditions in the upstream parts of both river basins.
