Dravske elektrarne Maribor completes bridge renovations, plans HE Formin upgrade
Dravske elektrarne Maribor (DEM), a member of the HSE group, has completed a multi-year cycle of bridge renovations across the Zlatoličje and Formin hydroelectric power plant channels. The program included the comprehensive repair of approximately 15 to 16 bridges, involving the replacement of road surfaces, railings, and concrete structures, as well as underwater support repairs.
Following the completion of the bridge works, DEM is moving forward with a major reconstruction project for the Formin hydroelectric power plant and the Markovci reservoir. This project is scheduled to begin in mid-2026 and continue through 2029. Key components include the replacement of two aggregates, the remediation of the inlet channel with composite film, and the renovation of all six flow fields in the Markovci reservoir.
The upgrades are designed to increase the installed capacity of HE Formin from 116 MW to 130.65 MW, representing a 12.6% increase. This is expected to raise annual energy production by approximately 7%, providing green energy to an additional 12,000 households.
