Draymond Green Declines No‑Trade Clause in New Warriors Contract

Draymond Green opted out of his $27.7 million player option for the 2026‑27 season and signed a one‑year deal with the Golden State Warriors for the same amount. Although the contract made him eligible for a no‑trade clause—and an implicit one because of its length—Green waived that right, receiving a 15 percent trade kicker instead. He explained on his podcast that fighting for a no‑trade clause “wasn't worth fighting over,” adding that he would rather be traded than stay where he isn’t wanted.

The move gave the Warriors additional salary‑cap flexibility as they pursued free‑agent LeBron James, a pursuit that ultimately ended with James signing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Green entered his 15th season with Golden State, having averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in the 2025‑26 campaign.
