Draymond Green discusses NBA contract extensions and career reflections

NBA veteran Draymond Green has shared various reflections on recent league developments and his own career. Regarding the Houston Rockets, Green expressed support for Amen Thompson’s recent five-year, $208 million contract extension. While acknowledging Thompson’s need to improve his perimeter shooting, Green argued the deal is justified by the player’s elite defensive impact and versatility.

Green also addressed his past with the Golden State Warriors, describing his 2022 physical altercation with Jordan Poole as a major personal and professional failure. He admitted he was not prepared for the responsibilities of a veteran mentor at that time, though he has since applied those lessons to his leadership with younger players like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

Additionally, Green commented on Ben Simmons’ return to the NBA with the Kings. Having dealt with similar back injuries, Green defended Simmons against critics, noting that the physical and mental toll of such injuries is often underestimated by the public.
