DRC and Central African Republic strengthen oil partnership

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic are strengthening their energy partnership, specifically regarding petroleum cooperation. During an official visit to Kinshasa on August 12, 2026, Central African Minister of Energy and Hydraulic Resources, Edwige Opportune Pouninguiza-Nguelebe, met with her Congolese counterpart, Acacia Bandubola Mbongo.

The discussions focused on the transit of petroleum products to the Central African Republic, a critical issue for the landlocked nation. The meeting included directors general of petroleum companies and ministerial staff to review previous transit operations and ensure future supply stability. Minister Pouninguiza-Nguelebe noted that the discussions aimed to build on previous dialogues held in June and July to secure vital supplies for her country.
