DRC Finance Minister Doudou Fwamba Launches National Stock Market
The Democratic Republic of Congo is moving to create a national stock exchange under the direction of Finance Minister Doudou Fwamba Likunde Li‑Botayi. The reform is presented as a way to turn Congolese savings into a driver of economic growth, broaden access to wealth creation and support industrialisation.
The new market will allow public and private companies, as well as the state, to raise capital for expansion, innovation and investment, while offering citizens the chance to invest and benefit from dividends and share price appreciation. The government says the initiative will help build a class of domestic investors, stimulate job creation and serve as a tool in the fight against poverty. A legal and regulatory framework is being put in place to protect investors and ensure transparency, aligning the project with President Félix Tshisekedi’s vision of a more inclusive economy.
