DRC launches road modernization projects in North Kivu and Kinshasa

In the province of North Kivu, a public‑private partnership is moving into its operational phase to modernise urban roads in the towns of Butembo, Beni, Oïcha and Kasindi. An inspection mission led by David Kamuha Musubaho, chief of staff to the provincial governor, visited key sections such as the Raw Bank round‑about to Mutiri and the northern extension of Julien Paluku street, accompanied by representatives of the Fédération des Entreprises du Congo (FEC) Butembo‑Lubero and the Association Congolaise des Commissionnaires Agréés en Douane (ACCAD) North‑Kivu. The model relies on contributions from local economic operators to fund the works and aims to improve trade flow and reduce administrative bottlenecks.

In Kinshasa, concrete rehabilitation of the Mbudi‑Pompage road, part of the larger Rocade Mitendi project, has entered its third month. The two‑kilometre stretch, started two months ago, is progressing on schedule and is expected to be completed within six months, pending no major setbacks. Local residents anticipate that the upgraded road will ease congestion and improve connectivity between Mbudi, Mazal, CPA Mushie and Pompage.
