DRC: New feminist league launches to unify women's rights advocacy

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, new initiatives are emerging to support women's rights and survivors of conflict-related violence. The Ligue des Féministes de la RDC was officially launched in Kinshasa on September 23. Supported by the United Nations MONUSCO Gender Section, this platform aims to unify previously dispersed feminist movements and civil society organizations to strengthen advocacy for gender equality and women's participation in public life.

In North Kivu, the Dynamique des Femmes pour la Bonne Gouvernance (DYFEGOU) has recognized the medical assistance provided by the National Fund for Reparations to Victims of Sexual Violence (FONAREV). This support has benefited nearly one hundred survivors of massacres in Butembo and Beni. While acknowledging these health interventions as vital for restoring dignity, DYFEGOU advocates for expanded economic support, noting that over three-quarters of identified survivors in the region have yet to receive economic aid due to limited resources.
