DRC secures $5.7M for financial inclusion and launches road‑safety agency project

A partnership called ACTIF II was signed in the Democratic Republic of Congo by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP‑DRC), the Fonds de Promotion de l'Industrie (FPI) and the Swedish Embassy in Kinshasa. The agreement mobilises US$5.69 million to strengthen eight micro‑finance institutions and credit‑cooperatives in eleven provinces, create at least 100 women‑ and youth‑led groups, open three new financial outlets, and develop digital products and agricultural value‑chains.

Separately, the DRC government, funded by a World Bank grant under the PACT (Support to Connectivity and Transport) programme, issued a solicitation for a consultancy to help create and operationalise a new National Road Safety Agency (ANSR). The consultant will assist in drafting a national road‑safety policy, strategy and action plan, develop legislative texts, advise on sustainable financing and design public‑awareness campaigns in line with the Safe System Approach.
