DRDO mega project announced for Junput, West Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is prepared to establish a mega project in the state. The identified location for this initiative is Junput, situated in the East Midnapore district.

While the Chief Minister declined to provide specific details regarding the nature of the project, he noted that further information would be shared at a later stage. This announcement follows previous challenges in the region, where past investment proposals, including a nuclear power project and a prior DRDO initiative, were halted due to local opposition and political resistance.

Additionally, Adhikari stated that while the current government aims to attract significant investments to boost the state economy and employment, it will conduct thorough background checks on potential investors to ensure credibility and prevent involvement in activities such as money laundering.
