Dream startup raises $17M to disrupt construction software with AI
Dream, a new startup founded by former Palantir executives Andy Elder and Arjun Mathur, has raised $17 million in a seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). The company aims to modernize the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry by utilizing specialized artificial intelligence models.
Unlike standard language models, Dream employs what founders call “structural cognition.” The system has been trained on over 100 million square feet of construction permit data in the United States, enabling the AI to understand materials, structural loads, and internal systems such as plumbing and HVAC.
The platform seeks to compete with established industry tools like AutoCAD and Revit by integrating AI directly into the design process. Dream is currently active in 10 projects across Texas and California, assisting professionals with automated design conceptualization and cost estimation.
