Dre’Mont Jones draws criticism after sack injures Sam Darnold

New England Patriots defensive end Dre’Mont Jones drew criticism following a game against the Seattle Seahawks for a social media post that appeared to target his former team. After recording his first sack of the season against Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold, Jones posted images to Instagram tagging an account with the username “f***_the_seahawks.” Jones previously played for the Seahawks for two seasons before being released in March 2025.

The sack occurred early in the game and resulted in Darnold leaving the field with a hip injury. While the injury caused immediate concern, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald stated that a fracture has been ruled out. NFL Network reported that the team believes the injury is not significant, though Darnold may face a short-term absence if placed on injured reserve.
