Düren: Mass brawl involving axes and hammers leaves several injured

A violent mass brawl involving more than 20 people occurred on Sunday evening at Bonner Platz in the city center of Düren, Germany. Eyewitness videos depict participants using axes, hammers, poles, and baseball bats to attack one another.

At least eight people sustained serious injuries, with six being transported to hospitals by ambulance under medical supervision. Two other bleeding victims reportedly refused medical treatment. While several injuries were severe, police stated that no victims are in life-threatening condition.

Preliminary investigations suggest the conflict involved members of two large, reportedly feuding families who may have arranged to meet, leading to a brutal escalation of a long-standing dispute. Police have arrested two suspects at the scene: a 23-year-old man from Cologne and a 22-year-old man from Düren. Authorities are currently analyzing numerous eyewitness videos to identify further suspects and are calling on witnesses to provide information.
