Dresden advances heritage projects with villa lease plan and museum roof renovation

The city of Dresden announced a new process to find long‑term tenants for a protected historic villa on Bautzner Straße 173 in the Radeberger Vorstadt. Interested parties will submit interest statements rather than participating in a public tender, outlining usage concepts and rental terms. The procedure began on 29 July 2026, with submissions accepted until the end of October. The two‑storey, 500 m² villa will not be used for residential purposes; tenants must carry out restoration and will receive favourable rent conditions.

Separately, the Carl‑Maria‑von‑Weber Museum in Dresden‑Hosterwitz will commence roof‑truss restoration in November 2026. The Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz contributed €70,000, matched by €72,000 of city funds, to finance the first construction phase. The project includes repair of the timber frame, roof, façade and installation of modern technical equipment, aiming for completion in the first quarter of 2027 and a museum reopening slated for 2030. The donation was presented by foundation director Christian Schreiber to cultural mayor Annekatrin Klepsch and museum director Dr Romy Donath.
