Dresden: Cyclist seriously injured in tram collision
A 50-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in Dresden on Monday morning following a collision with a tram on Wilsdruffer Straße. The accident occurred around 7:55 a.m. near the Pirnaischer Platz stop when the cyclist, traveling from the direction of Altmarkt, reportedly turned left suddenly and struck the front windshield of a line 9 tram.
The tram driver received support from emergency services and a crisis intervention team after suffering shock. The collision caused significant disruptions to public transport, resulting in a two-hour suspension of tram lines 1, 2, and 9, as well as temporary road closures. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident.
