Dresden hosts 26th Marathon, causing widespread traffic closures

The 26th Dresden Marathon will take place on the weekend of October 24–25, 2026, resulting in extensive road and public transport closures across the city.

On Saturday, October 24, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, the children's marathon and a five-kilometer run will cause closures around Sportpark Ostra, affecting areas such as Weißeritzstraße, Pieschener Allee, and the Elberadweg.

The main marathon and half-marathon events on Sunday, October 25, will impact the city center and several districts, including Innere Neustadt, Äußere Neustadt, Radeberger Vorstadt, Striesen, Blasewitz, Johannstadt, and Gruna. Specific streets such as Devrientstraße and Terrassenufer will be closed from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In the Neustadt area, the route includes Große Meißner Straße, Albertplatz, and Bautzner Straße.

Authorities advise motorists to avoid non-essential trips to the city center and to expect delays. Major diversions for Bundesstraße 6 will be routed via Emerich-Ambros-Ufer and St. Petersburger Straße. Pedestrians should also prepare for wait times, as some crossings will be restricted and several traffic lights will be deactivated.
