Dresden Monarchs win second German Football League title
The Dresden Monarchs have secured their second German Football League (GFL) championship by defeating the Potsdam Royals in the 2026 German Bowl. The Monarchs completed a perfect season under head coach Greg Seamon, winning the final with a score of 27-19.
The championship match took place at the Rudolph-Harbig-Stadion in Dresden, drawing a record crowd of over 25,000 spectators. This victory marks the second title in the club's history, following their first championship in 2021, which was notable as the first title won by a team from the former East German states.
Founded in 1992, the Dresden Monarchs have risen from the lowest divisions to become a dominant force in the GFL. Their path to the top included consecutive league wins between 1996 and 1999 and a promotion to the top tier in 2002.
