Dresden police arrest 15-year-old suspect in series of robberies

Police in Dresden have arrested a 15-year-old Syrian national in connection with a series of robberies. The suspect was apprehended on Thursday evening in an apartment in the Johannstadt district.

The individual is accused of targeting multiple locations, including a gambling hall on Breitscheidstraße, a casino on Radeberger Straße, and a gas station on Dohnaer Straße. During one of the incidents at the casino, the suspect reportedly entered the premises armed with a machete and demanded money, successfully obtaining approximately 80 euros.

No injuries were reported during the attempted or completed robberies. Following a request from the public prosecutor, an investigating judge ordered pretrial detention, and the teenager has been placed in a juvenile detention center. Investigations into the circumstances of the crimes are ongoing.
