Dresden police investigate blockade of CDU politician's business

The state security department of the Dresden police is investigating an incident involving approximately 30 individuals from the political left who blocked access to a snack bar in the Neustadt district. The establishment, ‘Curry & Co.’, is owned by Simone Meyer-Götz, who serves as the deputy chair of the Dresden CDU district association.

Authorities suspect the group of coercion and trespassing after they allegedly prevented customers from entering the premises on a Friday evening. Following the blockade, a spontaneous demonstration involving roughly 70 additional people gathered across the street. Police issued dispersal orders to the participants, who subsequently left the area.

The incident follows previous targeting of the business, which was vandalized with paint in late September. Meyer-Götz had recently drawn political attention after expressing views in a media broadcast regarding the ‘firewall’ policy toward the AfD, suggesting a need for more cross-party cooperation. She has also reportedly faced online harassment and the publication of her private address.
